View Through Olive Groves

A great view of the highly organised rows of olive trees that typify inland Spain.
We can just see a pueblo nestling between the groves in the heat haze.

Hazy Pueblo

With an amazing digital zoom I have been able to photograph this sleepy little Andaluian village / Pueblo.

It sits beautifully among the groves that gave birth to it through the industry that the olive brings.

Panoramic - Inland Water at Sun Set

As the sun set over the hills to the west, I had to jump out of the car and capture what I could of this breath taking scenery.

I have never seen two sunsets the same and I felt I could not let this one excape without being properly logged and admired.

Closer to the Pueblo

I Love the way the red brick walls blend so well with the brick red soil around the olive trees. Yet are brought to our attention by the occassional white washed wall / building.

Notice how the sky melts into the olive tree covered hills in the background. You can almost feel the heat and smell the olives as they ripen in the sun.

Sun Setting over Olive Groves

The geometric order and perfect placement of hundreds of thousands of olive trees astounds me. Irregardless of valley or hill, these olive trees have been planted with amazing regularity - designed like this hundreds of years ago to take advantage of what little rainfall there was in the region.

I can only try to replicate it's beauty. A mounted mixed media drawing is available to buy.

Inland Water

The sun had already dissappeared behind mountains to the west but the sky continued to glow as if on fire.

No filters are used on my camera - I prefer mother nature to chose her colour pallete.

Inland Spain - Vertical

Mile after mile of olive groves are highlighted by the last stunning rays of the sun. Sunset over Inland Andalucia is quite spectacular.

All too often the beauty of inland Spain is overlooked by the normal tourist.

Red Sky at Night

The last burning rays of the August sun light up the evening. Notice if you will the colours of Spain's flag in the sky - hot reds and warm yellows mix together to signify the end of a beautiful day.

Inland Islands

It is amazing to find such a quantity of water inland at the height of summer. However, we can see how far up the water will rise over the winter period from where the line of the olive trees stop.
